![]() ![]() The T-35 seems to grab the inset of the bolt, but when trying to rotate it, no dice and the bit comes out of the hole/ slips (and this is using strong pressure directly over the bolt and using a breaker bar as a regular ratchet handle (3/8” drive) simply didn’t apply enough torque. Any ideas to free up the bolts without drilling them out or other brutal tactics. I’ll either return it to RetroModern and lose 20% restocking fee or maybe try to sell it here. I’m not sure if I can get this installed. It was known as the Toyota MR-S in Japan and the Toyota MR2. As the third generation Toyota MR2 (W30 1999-2007), the first MR2 Spyder debuted in 1997 at the Tokyo Auto Show as a prototype. I don’t want to further bugger up the bolt and I just cannot get it to release (I read a thread from 2005 in which another owner had the same issue and basically pounded a T-40 Torx bit in and then got the bolts to release, but no such luck with this. The Toyota MR2 Spyder is a 2-door convertible manufactured by Toyota from 1999 to 2007, with its presence in the United States market lasting until 2005. When I wanted to remove the bolts of the striker (which are actually T-35 Torx button head bolts), not matter what I do and having obtained the proper bit from Harbor Freight (as no one else sells it), I cannot get the bolt to budge at all. Package includes carbon fiber OEM style hardtop and hardware & installation kit. Anyway, today, I tightened up my front hard top latches (the procedure where you cut the long nut of the latch by ~ 5 mm) and this seems to have worked well. Details This hardtop is made with Grade-A carbon fiber material and is fully finished. I couldn't live with myself knowing I knew and didn't help them.Yes, I would assume our tops are not high theft items (as are Miata tops in some cities), but I purchased a RetroModern polished HT lock (you remove the 2 large Torx bolts from the striker and install the billet retainer and then slide the latch lock over the retainer, then it’s locked in place with a special key). I decided to pass on it and bought my SMT but returned to the dealer a week later and explained to them why it was leaking. They couldn't figure out why it was leaking (cup holder filled with water, bins filled with about an inch of water) and were prepared to buy me a completely new top of my choice if I bought the car. When I was originally looking to get into my second Spyder, I came across one at a Mitshubishi dealership. Choose an option Dry Carbon (Pre-Preg) Fiberglass (FRP) Clear. I usually only have to do that once a year. Hardtop uses factory oem front and rear brackets off your softtop for installation. I usually fill a 16.9 oz bottle with water, dump it directly into that area while forcing the straw into the hole and whatever crap might be in there is washed out. ![]() They're pliable enough to get down into the drain and snake through the crap that might be caught up in there. My secret to keeping 'em leaf-free is two heavy duty straws duct taped together. I live in south Florida and keeping crap out of those drains is a must, otherwise, it only takes one afternoon monsoon to get the sloshing sound in the bins and a cup holder filled with water. It's design is to let the water out when the main drain is clogged.IMO it does not work well at all. The drain tube runs into the door pillar itself behind the plastics. There is also an overflow 's drain is located further up the side of the bags above the main drain. Many times they collect leaves, garbage, etc.that block off the main drains. SpyderChat Forum is a community for Toyota MR2 Spyder. The rear window is definitely cleaner than most custom jobs. I dont think Ive ever seen a complete CF Hardtop w/ latches and headliner for sale here that didnt come off of a pure track car. If you take off your package tray inside the car, you will fairly eaisly be able to get to the bags and clean them out as well. (SOLD) Reactions: Hidretrofitkit and phattires. Be careful trying to take the flapper piece off from the outside as it will break and then you will be stuck in a bad situation. There are multiple ways to clean that out by using a piece of coathangar, etc. nine times out of ten this is because the folding straps that run across the inside of the hood can snag making it seal incorrectly. Right behind your intake vent mounted just behind both doors is the flapper (Tailgate drain) that is the drain point for the main drain at the bottom of the bags (Side gate seals). The window seals are usualy excellent on the Roadster, however if your hood doesnt sit properly on the fold piont, this can cause water to run into the car (usually showing on the side of your seat). First understand what the side drains are.they are a set of bags mounted in your car from the door pillar around to the rear corner of the top. ![]()
